Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively remove organic impurities such as methanol and other impurities such as sulfate ions, by repeating an alternation of washing with heated purified water and scrubbing with N2 gas, and then performing finishing cleaning by means of countercurrent cleaning. CONSTITUTION:In cleaning an ion exchange resin which has been used in a condensate-desalting tower in a nuclear power plant, the ion exchange resin is cleaned by repeating an alternation of washing with purified water heated at 50-60 deg.C and scrubbing with N2 gas, and then performing finishing cleaning by means of countercurrent cleaning. As a result, organic impurities such as methanol and other impurities such as sulfate ions can be removed effectively. Therefore, when the thus-cleaned ion exchange resin is packed into the condensate-desalting tower, no organic or inorganic impurities are eluted therefrom, and hence there is no fear that the water in the reactor undergoes deterioration in quality. Accordingly, corrosion of structural substances in the nuclear reactor can be prevented and, hence, a healthy condition of the structure can be maintained.
