Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the catalytic activity for a temperature range of from 800-1,300 deg.C and to prolong the catalytic life, by fixing catalyst particles supporting a catalyst activator on the inner surface of a porous, hollow globule having heat resistance, thereby forming a high-temperature combustion catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Catalyst particles supporting a catalyst component 3 are fixed on the inner surface of a porous, hollow globule 1 having heat resistance, thereby forming a high-temperature combustion catalyst. The particle diameter of the porous, hollow globule 1 is varied depending upon the required heat resistance of the catalyst. However, it is preferable that the average particle diameter be from 0.1-10mu and diameters of the pores of the hollow globule be around 10Angstrom . As the compound constituting the hollow fine particle, especially preferred are those having high melting points such as zirconium silicate, calcium silicate, etc. Further, as the catalyst activator, preferred are a platinum compound, a nonmetallic oxide, a composite oxide comprising perovskite, etc.
