Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the position determining operation of a data head from going to unstable due to the unequality of a servo track interval and the distortion of a position error signal by providing a servo track writing head to correct a position on a magnetic disk and to write the servo track. CONSTITUTION:The titled device has a reference head 9, besides a servo track writing head 10, to detect fluctuation received by the revolving oscillation of a revolving mechanism with the magnetic disk to which the servo track is written, especially, the fluctuation in the radius direction of a magnetic disk board 7 and a reference servo track is written to the magnetic disk board before the servo track is written by this reference head 9. A servo signal is read from this servo track by the reference head and demodulated to the position error signal to be reference. Then, while a servo track writing position is corrected according to this signal, the servo track is written. Thus, the phase of the fluctuation generated by the revolving fluctuation of the written servo track can be matched and the equality of the track interval of the written servo track can be improved. Then, the fluctuation itself can be reduced.
