Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize tracking for recording of the narrow track width simply and easily, by moving slightly the recording and reproducing element to the track where information has been recorded and by using the tracking pattern obtained from its reproduced signal to record information. CONSTITUTION:In case that signals are recorded in concentric circles on recording material 1, recording and reproducing element 4 is moved finely in steps for the track, where information has been recorded, near the track where information should be recorded, and the change of the reproduced signal corresponding to this fine movement is operated by the calculator to obtain the tracking pattern of this track. This tracking pattern is used to record information. For example, head 4 is moved finely through the piezoelement, and the reproduced signal is subjected to A/D conversion through head amplifier 14 and envelop detector 16 and is input to CPU22 together with the rotaion angle of motor 2. The operated tracking pattern is stored in RAM25 and is read out to correct tracking.
