Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture a forged steel product without heat treatment for dehydrogenation after forging, by forging carbon steel or the like and subjecting the forged product before finish forging to phase transformation by slow cooling and phase transformation by rapid heating under specified conditions. CONSTITUTION:Carbon steel or low-alloy steel is forged and the forged product before finish forging is subjected to gamma alpha phase transformation by slow cooling to the temp. range of about 150-250 deg.C below the Ms point. The product is then subjected to alpha gamma phase transformation by rapid heating to a reaustenitizing temp. of about 1,050-1,150 deg.C at about 100-150 deg.C/hr heating rate and finish forging and slow cooling are carried out. Thus, a forged steel product can be manufactured without heat treatment for dehydrogenation, so the cost of manufacture is reduced and the efficiency is increased.
