Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable a recording paper to be printed substantially over the full vertical and horizontal ranges thereof, by performing transfer at the time of feeding the recording paper backward after setting an initial position by feeding the paper forward, then feeding the paper and an ink sheet backward after the completion of transfer, thereafter feeding the paper forward, and applying a tension on the paper. CONSTITUTION:The leading end of the first color of an ink sheet 11 and the trailing end of a recording paper 23 are positioned to a position at which a platen roller 25 and a heat generating part of a thermal head 30 are opposed to each other, and printing is conducted when the paper 23 is fed backward. The printing is finished when the leading end of the paper 23 reaches a position on the upstream of the heat generating part of the head 30. After the recording is stopped, the paper 23 and the sheet 11 are fed backward to the slightly downward side of the position at which the roller 25 and the head 30 are opposed to each other, then the paper 23 is fed forward, and only the paper 23 is slightly fed between a pressure roller 50 and the head 30. When the leading end A of the paper 23 is fed to the position of a paper- discharging shaft 28 and a paper-discharging pressure roller 20, a tension is applied on the paper 23 by a roller 29. When the paper 23 is returned to an initial state thereof, the sheet 11 is fed, and printing in the next color is conducted.
