Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a healthy food additive for race horses capable of providing growing horses for horse racing and young horses after weaning with a component of green grass deficient especially in the season of winter readily throughout the year, by blending fine powder and coarse powder of leaves and stems of bamboo grass. CONSTITUTION:Reaped and collected bamboo grass is dried in the sun by primary drying until water content of the grass becomes about 10-13%, cut or ground into about 1-3cm and dried in a warm air drying chamber by secondary drying to <=about 8% water content. Then the cut and ground bamboo grass is repeatedly pulverized and sieved until diameter of the powder becomes <=3mm to give fine powder having <=about 0.3mm diameter and coarse powder having <=about 3mm in the ratio of usually about 3:1, the prepared fine powder and the coarse powder are dried <=7% water content, uniformly blended and stirred.
