Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an underwater antifouling coating agent excellent in storage stability, dryability, adhesion and antifouling property, by mixing a specified copolymer with a surface lubricant. CONSTITUTION:An underwater antifouling coating agent of a viscosity at 25 deg.C <=150P is obtained by dissolving 5-80wt.% polymer of a monomer (a) of formula I [wherein X is H or methyl, m >=0, R1-5 are each alkyl, alkoxyl, (substituted) phenyl or (substituted)phenoxyl] and/or monomer (b) of formula II (wherein Y is X, R1-5' are each R1, and n >=0) or copolymer of monomers (a) and (b) with 5-95wt.% vinyl polymerizable monomer (c) copolymerizable therewith (e.g., methyl methacrylate) and having a weight-average MW of 1,000-1,500,000 and, optionally, 1-70wt.% surface lubricant in an organic solvent (e.g., xylene).
