Abstract
PURPOSE:To realize the formation of an underwater antifouling covering agent which gives an antifouling covering film with excellent surface slipperiness and antifouling properties, by using as its essential constituents a polymer prepared from a monomer having organosilyl groups or organosiloxane groups on its side chain and/or a copolymer prepared from said monomer and a polymerizable vinyl monomer, and an antifouling agent. CONSTITUTION:An underwater antifouling covering agent containing as its essential constituents a polymer prepared from one or more monomers of formula I and/or a copolymer prepared from one or more of said monomers and one or more polymerizable vinyl monomers copolymerizable therewith; and an antifouling agent. In formula I, X and Y may be the same or different and are each H, methyl or -CH2COOR' (wherein R' is H, alkyl or phenyl), provided that Y must be -CH2COOR' when X is H; n is an integer of 0-5; m is a real number of 0 or greater; R1-R5 are each alkyl, alkoxyl, phenyl, phenoxyl, etc., and m units of R4 and R5 and m units of R1-R3 respectively may be the same as or different from one another.
