Abstract

PURPOSE: To prolong the service life of a sluice valve device and, at the same time, to improve the degree of the vacuum in a vacuum chamber by providing a sluice valve on a first shaft which is attached in parallel to the work passage of the vacuum chamber at an interval from the passage and rotatably providing a heat insulating shutter on a second shaft. CONSTITUTION: A work 4 is carried in a vacuum chamber 1 through a passing port 5. When the work 4 is carried in the chamber 1, the heat insulating shutter 15 of a second shaft 12 blocks the passage of the work 4 and the sluice valve 10 of a first shaft 11 closes a passing port 6. During the heating of the work 4, the soaking property of the work 4 is improved, because the shutter 15 prevents radiation of the heat. When the heat treatment on the work 4 is completed, the sluice valve 10 is opened and the shutter 15 rotates to the position at which the shutter 15 protects the front face of the valve 10 and protects the packing of the valve 10 from heat. Since a rotary vacuum seal is adopted, in addition, no gas enrolling nor oil evaporation occurs. Therefore, the degree of the vacuum in the vacuum chamber 1 is improved and the service life of a sluice valve device is prolonged.
