Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a polymeric absorbent of excellent flow and a high liquid, absorption rate, by adhering a fine inorganic powder in a state of secondary agglomerates to the surface of a coarse polymeric absorbent. CONSTITUTION:A polymeric absorbent composition is formed by adhering a fine inorganic powder in a state of secondary agglomerates to the surface of a coarse polymeric absorbent. Examples of said polymeric absorbent used include crosslinked starch/acrylate graft polymers, crosslinked polyacrylates and hydrolysis products of crosslinked polyacrylonitrile. Said polymeric absorbent is usually used in the form of coarse particles, and its mean particle diameter is in the range of, usually, 100-800mu, desirably, 200-500mu. Said powder in a state of secondary agglomerates means agglomerates composed of microparticles are primary particles and having such as strength as not to be easily disintegrated and a porous structure unlike primary particles. Its mean particle diameter is usually 1mu or above and desirably in the range of 5-20mu.
