Transparency is different by the content of yttria (Y2O3) and said monocrystal becomes translucent in the content of 3-5mol.% and becomes sufficiently transparent in the content of 6-12mol.%. The strength of the monocrystal is excellent within a range of 3-5mol.% and becomes 100kgf/mm<2> at 3mol.%, 50kgf/mm<2> at 5mol.% and 30kgf/mm<2> at 12mol.%. This single crystal is processed and ground into the shape of an orthodontic bracket. Further, when the single crystal is prepared, a favorite color can be developed by a small amount of an additive.
