Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the title masterbatch which has an excellent rubber dispersion, with no fly loss, and is useful as a crosslinking agent for acrylic rubber, by blending ammonium benzoate and rubber in a given ratio. CONSTITUTION:Given amounts of benzoic acid (a) and ammonia water or gaseous NH3 (b) are added to a rubber soln. A obtd. by dissolving a natural rubber and/or a synthetic rubber (e.g., acrylic rubber), which is soluble in an organic solvent (e.g. toluene), in an organic solvent, and the mixture is reacted at 60 deg.C or lower and then freed of the solvent under normal pressure or reduced pressure to give the title masterbatch, wherein the ratio of ammonium benzoate B which is the reaction product of the components (a) and (b) to A is 30/70-95/5.
