Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a sizing agent composition consisting of a vinyl-based polymer emulsion using an anionic water soluble polymer as a protective colloid and a hardly water soluble quaternary ammonium salt type cationic surfactant and showing a high sizing effect and imparting a good touch feeling. CONSTITUTION: This sizing agent composition consisting of a cationic emulsion excellent in stability is obtained by performing an emulsion polymerization of a vinyl monomer having a polymerizable double bond e.g. vinyl acetate and acrylic acid ester in the presence of an anionic water soluble polymer, then maturing to obtain a vinyl-based polymer emulsion using the anionic water soluble polymer as a protective colloid, adding a hardly water soluble quaternary ammonium salt type cationic surfactant (e.g.; dilauryldimethylammonium chloride and di-hardened tallow alkyldimethylammonium chloride) at the starting time of the above maturing period. The sizing agent can perform the sizing of a fiber even under a large bath ratio such as in an electric washer and the touch feeling of the fiber is also excellent.
