Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a superconducting material having high density, by hot- pressing oxide superconductor powder under specific temperature and pressure condition. CONSTITUTION:The objective superconducting material can be produced by hot-pressing oxide superconductor powder at 600-1,000 deg.C under 20MPa and, as necessary, post-treating at 800-1,000 deg.C. In the conventional process for the production of oxide superconducting material, a sintered material is produced by baking mixed powder twice or more. Accordingly, the reaction of powder takes place and gas is generated to fail the production of a dense sintered material. Contrary to the above, a mixed powder is directly hot-pressed in the present process, the reaction gas generates during the heating stage and the material is pressed after the generation of gas to form a dense sintered material. A calcination step can be omitted in the present process and the product has high density and excellent mechanical strength owing to the hot- pressing step.
