Abstract

PURPOSE:To miniaturize the terminals of an emergency cable having plural optical fibers and to improve workability by adopting the constitution consisting in providing connector boxes having plural receptacles to the two terminals of said cable. CONSTITUTION:The fibers are drawn out of a connecting box 6 as jumper cables 7 divided to n-pieces and the connector 8 provided to the front ends thereof is connected to one of n-pieces of the receptacles 3 of the connector boxes 2 provided at both ends of the emergency cable 1 at the time of restoring the fault of a main cable 5 having >=10 fibers. The connector box 2 at the other end and the connector box 2 of another emergency cable 1 are then connected via jumper cables 10 having conversion connectors 9; further, this connection is repeated. The terminals of the emergency cable are, therefore, miniaturized and the handling thereof is facilitated. The easy and rapid restoration work is thus enabled.
