Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily detect the deterioration condition in the supporting part of a linear motor from attraction force and a change rate of a gap by changing the attraction force generated by DC excitation of a primary coil and measuring the gap between the primary coil and a reaction plate.
CONSTITUTION: A tramcar into which the primary coil 1 of the linear motor supported in an axle via vibration insulating rubber and adjusting shims is built is entered into an inspection and service pit 8. The attraction force is generated by subjecting the primary coil 1 of the linear motor of the tram car to the DC excitation and this attraction force is changed. The change rate of the gap between the primary coil 1 and the reaction plate 6 is then measured by the testing apparatus constituted of a gap sensor 9, a gap measuring instrument 10, and a computer 11, etc. The measured value is compared with an initial value, by which the deterioration condition in the supporting part of the linear motor is easily detected without removing the linear motor carriage from the tramcar and disassembling the carriage.
