Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the accuracy of detection by enclosing a hollow cylindrical body having plural through-holes with a solid electrolyte layer which has oxygen ion conductivity and is provided with at least two pairs of electrodes on the inside and outside surfaces and disposing the electrode pairs at equal intervals on the circumference of the electrolyte layer. CONSTITUTION:The solid electrolyte layer 3 is coated on the surface of the hollow cylindrical body 2. For example, a 1st reference electrode 4 and the 2nd reference electrode 5 are provided on the inside of the layer 3 and a 1st measuring electrode 6 and the 2nd measuring electrode 7 as well as a heating element 8 are respectively provided on the outside of the layer 3. The through- holes 9-12 which communicate the inside and the outside of the layer 2 are provided and the electrode 4 and the electrode 6 are disposed in the positions corresponding to the holes 9, 10 and the electrode 5 and the electrode 7 in the positions corresponding to the holes 11, 12, respectively. The electrode pair consisting of the electrodes 4, 6 and the electrode pair consisting of the electrodes 5, 7 are disposed, for example, to face each other at equal intervals to decrease the influence of the flow direction of a measuring gas on the output of a sensor 1. The detection with high accuracy is thus executed.
