Abstract

PURPOSE:To simply measure the difference between the hardnesses of a muscle at the times of tension and relaxation, by calculating the displacement quantity of a leg part moving against elastic force when said leg part is pressed to a muscle. CONSTITUTION:Guides 12, 13 guide the movement of apparatuses 20, 40. The apparatus 20 is equipped with a central leg 21, a scale plate 35 and a rotary indicator 36 and the teeth of a rack 38 are meshed with the gear 37 fixed to the shaft 36a of the rotary indicator 36. A spring 14 is mounted to the guide 12 in a ring shape and a holding apparatus 50 is pivotally supported at the end part thereof in a freely revolvable manner by a screw 50a and energized by a spring 56 and, when said apparatus 50 rotates to the left, the rack 38 is stopped. The apparatus 40 is equipped with legs 41, 42 to be held by a holding part 43 and a spring 44 is mounted between the lower end surface of the holding part 43 and a limit plate 11. When legs 21, 41, 42 are pressed to the surface of a muscle, the indicator 36 begins to rotate corresponding to the displacement of the leg 21 and the holding apparatus 50 operates corresponding to the displacement of predetermined quantity of the legs 41, 42 to stop the rotation of the indicator 36. By this method, the hardness of a muscle can be simply measured.
