Abstract
818,686. Myotonometers. METRIMPEX MAGYAR MUSZERIPARI KULKERESKEDELMI VALLALAT. Dec. 31, 1956, No. 39658/56. Class 81 (2). A myotonometer comprises a sensing element 1 to be placed in contact with the muscle the tanicity of which is to be measured, the sensing element 1 being movable between rollers 2 against a spring load 9 and transmitting its movement to a crank-like arm and a pointer 7, the resulting rotary movement of which is proportional to the tonicity of the muscle. A sensing rod 1 is slidable in a column 3 in which it is centred by rollers 2. A fork 4 at the upper end of the sensing rod 1, embraces a roller 6, mounted eccentrically to a crank-like arm of a spindle 5. Longitudinal movement of the sensing rod 1 rotates spindle 5 which moves a pointer 7 over a scale 8. Springs 9 are attached to projections 4a at the upper end of the sensing rod 1 and to blocks 13 located in the instrument casing 12 to load the sensing rod 1. Pins 14 arranged transversely in the blocks 13 engage inclined slots 15a in a ring 15 which on rotation raises or lowers the pins 14 and the blocks 13 to adjust the springs 9. In use the sensing rod 1 is held against a muscle which in action displaces it.
