CONSTITUTION:40-95pts.wt. alumina cement compsn. contg. 100pts.wt. alumina cement contg. CaO.Al2O3 as primary component and 10-200pts.wt. setting retarder contg. alumina cement consisting primarily of 2CaO.Al2O3.SiO3.SiO2 and having >=50% amorphous fraction is mixed with 60-5pts.wt. II type anhydrous gypsum having 2,800-6,500cm<2>/g Blaine value, to provide thus a setting retarder. The setting retarder is prepd. by crushing clinker synthesized from an alumina source such as bauxite, Bayer process alumina, etc., calcium source such as lime stone, caustic lime, etc., and silica source such as fused silica, siliceous stone, etc., by calcination or electrocasting, in a crusher such as tube mill or vibration mill, etc.
