Abstract

PURPOSE:To realize a superconducting quantum interferometer operable at a high temperature, by slenderizing a part of a superconductor thin film electrode and a step is provided at a part of a substrate to form a weak coupling type Josephson junction orthogonal to the electrode. CONSTITUTION:A thin film made of a high-temperature superconductor such as a mixed oxide of Hf, Sc, Y, rare earth element, Sr, F, Cu and Ba used as superconductive material, especially, YBa2Cu3O7-x (0<x<1) is formed on a substrate 1. Then, an opening 3 is arranged at the center of a superconductor thin film electrode 2 being interlinked with a magnetic flux and a slender part thereof 2 is provided near the opening to form a Josephson junction 4.
