Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a high performance magnetometer, by using parallel superconductive type loops for SQUID loops, using parallel superconducting type loops for input coils, using a planar type gradiometer for a pickup coil, and using an oxide conductor at a high critical temperature for a Josephson junction. CONSTITUTION:As SQUID loops 8 having Josephson junctions, parallel superconducting loops are used. Signal input coils 7 are meandering type coils. As a pickup coil 6, a planar type gradiometer is used. Element dc SQUIDs having this constitution are formed on a substrate in a matrix pattern of mXn. Thus, the multiple type dc SQUIDs are obtained. For electrode material and superconducting wirings of the Josephson junction, one or more kinds of superconductive oxide materials, which are selected among (M11-xM2x)yCuOz, are used. In this formula: 0<x<1; 1<=y<=2; 2<=z<=4; M1 represents group III metals such as Sc and Y; and M2, group II metals such as Be and Wg. As a tunnel barrier for the Josephson junction, CuOx, MoOx or VOx is used.
