Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain superior characteristics of solar heat selective absorption by using a mixture comprising a carbide of transition metal belonged to the periodic table group IV and Al. CONSTITUTION:The title material is constituted by forming a film, which is composed of mixed powder comprising a carbide of transition metal belonged to the periodic table group IV and Al, directly or via a binder, on the surface of a base material. As for the carbide, TiC, ZrC, HfC, etc. may be used, but ZrC is most effective. Metallic Al is compounded with these carbides, and the resulting compound is used in a mixed powder state. The compounding ingredients are uniformly mixed as fine powder, and it is desired that the particle size of the powder is 15mum or smaller. The mixing ratio of Al to the carbide ingredient being 1:0.3-1.0 is effective. As for the base material, an organic material such as natural or synthetic fiber and synthetic resin, an inorganic material such as carbon and ceramics, or the cloth of textile, knitted goods, unwoven fabrics, etc., a film and a plate-like body, which are all made of a metallic material, are applied.
