Abstract

PURPOSE:To facilitate the sensing of a degree of removal of stain of food adhered to a wall surface of a heating chamber and enable a removal of stain only with a require period of time by a method wherein a concentration of carbon dioxide in a discharging passage containing oxidizing catalyst is detected by a carbon dioxide sensor. CONSTITUTION:A heating chamber 1 is heated up to various cooking temperatures by an electrical heater 2. It is heated up to 450-500 deg.C when a stain 6 adhered to a wall surface of heating chamber is to be removed. A discharging passage 3 is provided with an oxidizing catalyst 4 and a carbon dioxide sensor 5 is arranged after the oxidizing catalyst 4. When a smoke 7 passes through the oxidizing catalyst 4, a complete combustion is provided by the oxidizing catalyst 4. At this time, carbon dioxide is generated, so that atmosphere in the discharging passage 3 containing the oxidizing catalyst 4 is changed to a condition in which concentration of carbon dioxide is increased. A concentration of carbon dioxide within the atmosphere in the discharging passage 3 is detected by a carbon dioxide sensor 5. With this arrangement, it is possible to make an easy detection of whether or not the stain 6 of food adhered to the wall surface of the heating chamber 1 could be removed. It is sufficient to keep the heating chamber 1 for a specified period of time required for the above-described temperature according to a degree of stain 6 of the food.
