Abstract

CONSTITUTION:When a controller 170 supplies an ON signal into a start controlling solenoid valve 172 and supplies an OFF signal into a direct connection controlling solenoid valve 173, a pulley controlling solenoid valve 171 is set in OFF-state for a set time, and a continuously variable transmission 10 is kept close to the max. speed ratio corresponding to the direct connecting transmission ration. After the set time, the duty ratio of the pulley controlling solenoid valve 171 is increased, and the speed change to the low speed ratio is started. Therefore, when a start clutch 20 is connected, and the switching to the direct connection drive is started actually, the difference between the speed change ratio of the continuously variable transmission 10 and the direct connection transmission ratio is reduced, and the clutch engagement shock can be reduced.
