Abstract

PURPOSE:To enable smooth starting by setting the transmission capacity of a starting clutch at zero or slight opening of a throttle valve to approximately constant and stabilizing the creep torque generated when idling r.p.m is increased. CONSTITUTION:The engagement characteristics A of a starting clutch 20 within the driving range set in an electronic controller 60 is shown when the opening angle of a throttle valve is at a slight value of theta0% while the engagement characteristics B is shown when the opening position of the throttle valve is under theta0%. The starting clutch 20 becomes engaged loosely from the point of an r.p.m slightly lower than an idling r.p.m to generate a constant creep torque Tc (duty ratio Dc)%. Where the opening degree theta of the throttle valve is within theta>theta0, the torque transmission capacity is set to be successively increased from the creep torque Tc with increase in engine r.p.m of Nin as shown by the characteristics A, whereby providing smooth starting characteristics without any engagement impact.
