Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain optical short pulses of comparatively high power without using a mode synchronous method, by using a solid laser amplifier to amplify output beams from a semiconductor laser oscillator. CONSTITUTION:A diode laser 11 is excited by a pulser 12, and its operating temperature is controlled by a temperature stabilizer 13. Optical short pulses 14 at prescribed wavelengths are generated from this diode laser 11, and they are inputted to a laser amplifier 17 via a lens 15 and a pin hole 16. Optical excitation of a laser rod 18 composed in the laser amplifier 17 is performed by a lamp 19, and the generated laser beams are condensed effectively into the laser rod 18 by a condenser 20. Emission of the lamp 19 is performed by a current supplied from a power source 22, and its luminous timing is regulated so that amplification gains inside the rod 18 become maximum when the optical short pulses 14 are made incident to the laser rod 18.
