Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of speed change shocks by providing two one-way clutches in series between a housing and one constituent which becomes selectively a reaction member among constituents of a planet gear mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When a clutch 38 is released, a simple planet gear mechanism PC2 is fixed to a housing 50 by the engagement of one-way clutches 34, 36 to achieve a first speed stage. In the engagement of the clutch 38 the clutch 34 is put in the slip condition and the housing 50 side clutch 36 is turned on so that a simple planet gear mechanism PC1 is engaged by the housing 50 to act as a reaction member and achieve a second speed stage. When the clutch 38 is turned on and input is given to a carrier 16 of said mechanism PC1, the clutch 34 is put in the engaging condition and the clutch 36 in the slip condition so that the mechanisms 34, 36 are connected directly to each other to provide the direct connecting stage (third speed stage). Further, when a brake 46 is applied under such condition, the clutches 34, 36 are both idly rotated to provide acceleration stage.
