Abstract

PURPOSE:To enhance durability by forming the contact surface of a seal member touching with a workpiece in a flat shape, and forming at least the contact surface thereof with a composite material made up of one or more kinds out of polytetrafluoroethylene, carbon fiber, glass fiber, and graphite. CONSTITUTION:The contact surface of a seal member 44 which is fitted in a machining-solution injection nozzle 40 so as to be contact with a workpiece 32 is formed with a composite material made up of one or more kinds out of polytetrafluoroethylene, carbon fiber, glass fiber, and graphite. Consequently, friction resistance is very low, so that the machining-solution injection nozzle 40 is not deformed by fiction, and also the reduction in machining accuracy is not caused. Further, since the damage due to friction with the workpiece 32 is less and durability is improved, even if machining is carried out for a long period of time, wasteful outflow of a machining solution 28 can be securely restrained. As a result, the effect as the seal member 44, or the enhancement in the efficiency in discharging sludge and in cooling a wire electrode 10 can be satisfactorily accomplished.
