Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the titled microbeads readily changing a medium, enabling high-density cell culture, by adding a magnetic material to the microbeads. CONSTITUTION:Polymer powder selected from styrol polymer, ABS polymer, PE and polyamide polymer is uniformly blended with magnetic material (e.g. iron powder) having <=10mu particle diameter, heated, melted and dry sprayed from an orifice having a given diameter to give microbeads which are useful for microcarrier cell culture, apply magnetic force to fine particles and have 50-200mu particle diameter and 1.16-1.04 specific gravity. Then a magnet is exerted on the microbeads from the outside, the microbeads are aggregated in the circumference of the magnet, the microbeads are separated from a medium, the medium is taken out from the system, a new medium is added, magnetic force is cut and culture is continued.
