Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a static field compensating coil which assures large correctable field per unit current and can be constituted in small size by winding a coil lead in parallel in the axial direction with a particular angle to a virtual cylinder which is provided perpendicularly in the axial direction to the main static field in a static field generating apparatus which requires main static field having high uniformity such as a nuclear magnetic resonant image pickup apparatus. CONSTITUTION:Coil leads 4 in diameter of 1.6mm are provided in the axial direction Z of a virtual cylinder 5. Moreover total of 6n coil leads 4 are arranged, on the cross sectional plane of virtual cylinder 5, to the surface of virtual cylinder 5 with an angle phi forming with the main magnetic field direction X defined by the equation, phi=kpi/3+1/3 arc cos(n+1-2m)/n(n: a number of lead wires arranged from kpi/3 to(k+1)pi/3(n>=1); m: 1, 2, 3,..., n; k:0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Since this coil corrects component proportional to X<2>-Y<2>, a current flowing through the coil is adjusted so that focusing is set to the coefficient of X<2>-Y<2> and such coefficient becomes zero.
