Abstract

PURPOSE:To exchange fuel in the operation with controlling reactor output autonomously by regulating the charge and the exhaust of fuel elements in a fuel support pipe by means of variation of opening of an upper and a lower shape memory alloys according to the variation of temperature. CONSTITUTION:A reactor core tank 10 has an inlet 11 and an outlet 12 of liquid metal coolant 13, and plural fuel support pipes 14 are vertically penetrated. Plural fuel charge holes 21 are penetrated to align each support pipes 14 in a new fuel charge tank 20. Plural spent fuel enclosed holes 31 are provided to align the support pipes 14. On the upper end of the support pipes 14, an upper shape memory alloy member A with which the opening varies according to temperature is set in order that the velocity at which fuel elements 15 fall from fuel charge holes 21 into the support pipes 14 is controlled. On the lower end of the support pipe 14 a lower shape memory alloy member B with which the opening varies according to temperature is set in order that the velocity at which spent fuel elements fall from the support pipes 14 into spent fuel housed holes 31 is controlled.
