Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a sharp image, by arranging a diffusion cylinder for diffusing light between an object to be inspected and a camera so that the axis of the diffusion cylinder coincides with the optical axis of the camera and providing a stroboscopic light source illuminating the surface of the diffusion cylinder from the outside. CONSTITUTION:Each of canned goods 1 is continuously fed by a conveyor 3 and a diffusion cylinder 5 molded from an acrylic resin is fixed above the conveyor 3 so that the axis thereof coincides with that of each of the canned goods. When the continuously fed canned foods 1 reach an inspection position in such a state that a lid surface is turned upwardly, a timing sensor 11 is operated and stroboscopic lamps 6, 7 light to impinge lights on the outer peripheral surface of the cylinder 5 at an angle of 45 deg. from above. said lights pass through the cylinder 5 to reach the interior thereof and diffused and reflected to uniformly illuminate the surface of a can lid as scattering light. When the surface image of the lid is taken in this state by a camera 10, direct reflected light is eliminated and a sharp image is obtained without being affected by the direction of a rolling stripe and without generating halation. This image is displayed on a monitor and operationally processed to judge the quality and a can with printing inferior is removed from a line conveyor.
