Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve a highly filled resin composition in its curing properties, moldability and thermal shock resistance, by mixing a resin with a filler comprising an inorganic powder containing a specified amount of a spherical powder and having a zeta potential as measured in deionized water in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:This filler comprises an inorganic powder containing at least 10wt.% spherical powder and having a zeta potential as measured in deionized water in the range of -20--100mV. Said spherical powder is prepared by burning or fusing a powder of, for example, silica, silica sand, rock crystal or alumina with a flame, plasma flame, arc melting furnace, induction furnace, electric furnace or laser. To obtain the filler having the above zeta potential, at least one of (1) a process comprising controlling the amount of the hydroxyl groups on the surface of an inorganic powder, (2) a process comprising controlling the composition of the surface of an inorganic powder, (3) a process comprising modifying the surface of an inorganic powder with a coupling agent and (4) a process comprising modifying the surface of a high hydroxyl group content with a hydrophobic fine powder can be used.
