Abstract
PURPOSE:To execute a head access at a high speed by inserting a piezoelectric actuator into a displacement transmitting route and further, executing the head access by first and second driving means. CONSTITUTION:The head access is executed by a first driving means to operate a driving source 51 so that a head block 60 can be positioned to a position in which a reproducing signal level goes to be maximum and a second driving means after the head 60 is moved by the first driving means, to drive a piezoelectric actuator 58 so that the head 60 can be finely displaced by the piezoelectric actuator 58 and the head 60 can be positioned to an optimum position while operation is repeated to finely displace the head 60 again according to a reproducing signal level before and after this displacement. Thus, a defect on a characteristic due to a mechanical displacement converting element is compensated by the operation of the piezoelectric actuator and the first and second driving means and the head access can be executed at the high speed.
