Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively maintain the airtightness of a box even in a case where the box is sealed by stapling both flaps together by forming a recess on the end of at least one of both flaps for closing the box to overlap with the end of the other flap. CONSTITUTION:A corrugated fiberboard box P is a rectangular box of A type wherein the width of front and rear side walls 2a and 2b is wider than that of left and right side walls 1a and 1b and wherein inner flaps 3a and 3b are provided on the upper and lower ends of the left and right side walls 1a and 1b and the outer flaps 4a and 4b on the upper and lower ends of the front and rear side walls 2a and 2b, with a joint flap 7 provided on one end of the box. For economical reasons of stamping, the inner flaps 3a and 3b and the outer flaps 4a and 4b are formed to the same folding length, as in the case of the conventional corrugated fiberboard box of this type. In this case, however, the folding length of the outer flaps 4a and 4b is lengthened to such a size as to cause these flaps overlap at their end portions which are pressingly collapsed to form recessed portions 5a and 5b. When sealing the box, as the outer flaps 4a and 4b overlap at the recessed portions 5a and 5b, this overlap portion can be stapled with a staple 17 using a boxer.
