Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve the operability of a device and to miniaturize the device by forming a document insertion port, a document ejection port, an opening/ closing part which opens a document carrying path, a recording paper ejection port, an opening/closing part which opens a recording paper carrying path, and an operation part on the upper face of an enclosure. CONSTITUTION:At the time of transmission of picture information on a document, picture information is read by a line image sensor 38 while the document inserted from a document insertion port 8 is carried to the side of a document ejection port 9 by carrying rolls 17, 18, 31, and 32 at the time of operating an operation part 2, and this information is transmitted to the destination. At the time of reception of picture information inputted through an external line, picture information is recorded by a thermal head 61 while a recording paper 63 is carried by a platen roll 62. Since the document insertion port 8, the document ejection port 9, a recording paper ejection port 10, and the operation part 2 are provided on a main body 1a, and upper parts of the document carrying path and the recording paper carrying path are opened, the operability is improved and the device is miniaturized.
