Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain magnification and reduction in the subscanning direction of a contact type image sensor where CCD chips are arranged in zigzag by obtaining a proper delay time corresponding to the contracted magnification in the unit of one line read time and generating a drive signal fed to a 1st row CCD by the integer part and the decimal part. CONSTITUTION:In reading with nonmagnification, the read information of the 1st row CCD is retarded by 4Tsec (T=one line read time) more than the information of the 2nd row. In setting magnification M by a magnification setting means 1, the calculation of 4TXM is applied and it is divided into an integer part M0 and a fraction part M1 using the time T as the unit. A control circuit 2 uses the integer part M0 so as to select one of timing signal generating means PAL5a-5n to generate drive signals phiv2-phiv7. Then the calculation of the decimal part M1XT is executed and the result of calculation is converted into the clock count N of the CCD and it is given to a comparator 4. The comparator 4 outputs a coincidence signal when the count of the CCD clock from the counter 3 is equal to the N, and the drive signal phiv1 is given to the CCDs 1, 3 of the 1st row in this timing.
