Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the number of heads for one surface of a disk and to shorten a seek distance by disposing plural magnetic heads in one head slider and specifying the interval of the head gap of two adjacent heads and the positions of the individual head gaps. CONSTITUTION:The N magnetic heads (N is integer more than two) are disposed in one head slider 12, the interval of the head gap of the two adjacent heads of the plural heads is smaller than the width 14 of all data recording and reproducing area on the disk and these N head gaps 18 are respectively individually situated at the ABS 19 part (air bearing surface) of the head slider 12, the N ABS parts 19 are disposed in the head slider 12 correspondingly to the positions of the head gaps 18 and at the time of a contact/start/stop, a part except the ABS part 19 of the head slider 12 does not contact the magnetic disk 11. Thereby, the weight of the number of the heads for the one surface of the disk is increased without increasing the weight of a head actuator to shorten the seek distance.
