Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase the sensitivity of a photosensitive layer and to improve the potential stability during repeated use by using a trisazo pigment represented by a prescribed formula in the photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:A trisazo pigment represented by formula I (where each of R1-R3 is H, optionally substd. alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, a heterocyclic group, alkoxy, halogen, nitro or cyano, each of A1-A3 is a coupler residue having a phenolic hydroxyl group and A1-A3 may be different residues) is incorporated into a photosensitive layer on an electrically conductive substrate. The sensitivity of the photosensitive layer is increased and the potential stability during repeated use is improved.
