Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate time loss due to position movement and to measure the inclination of a surface speedily by turning a light projecting means and an image position detecting means along a circumference and finding the inclination of the object surface from the output of said image position detecting means and the output of a rotational angle detecting means. CONSTITUTION:A laser diode 4 projects a collimated laser beam and this beam forms a light spot image on the object surface 7. Then a PSD (position sensitive device) 6 is turned around a rotary shaft 1a along the circumference 10 together with the laser diode 4. Consequently, distances l1, l2, and l3 between the laser diode 4 and object surface 7 are found from photodetection signals of the PSD 6 when the angles of rotation of the laser diode 4 and PSD 6 are theta1, theta2, and theta3. Then a CPU 8 finds the inclination of the object surface 7 from those distances l1, l2, and l3 and the angles theta1, theta2, and theta3 of rotation.
