Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain an inexpensive and highly accurate carbon thermometer with a simple construction, by employing a graphite in a proper shape of a fiber, thin film, plate, bar or the like or a mixture containing graphite as thermosensing section. CONSTITUTION:A resistance line 3 can be formed on a ceramic plate 2 by drawing a line on the ceramic plate 2 with a pencil. Therefore, both ends of the resistance line 3 are connected to a terminal of a constant voltage power source unit 7 while with the connection of an ammeter 7 for measuring current in a circuit to the circuit, a resistance thermometer can be formed. The resistance line 3 herein used is the core itself of a pencil, carbon fiber or the like. When a temperature coefficient of the resistance line 3 is represented by alphaand a resistance at tG deg.C by R(tG), R(tG)=R0{1+alpha(tG-t0)} is given. Thus, the resistance value R(tG) of the resistance line 3 at tG deg.C is determined and the results are substituted into said formula thereby enabling the determination of the temperature tG deg.C.
