Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to replace resilient sheet members in a cartridge type valve seat for a butterfly valve, by forming a resilient seat member and an annular reinforcing member, separately from each other, and thereafter by assembling both members. CONSTITUTION:A resilient seat member 1 made of rubber or the like is formed by extrusion molding while an annular reinforcing member 2 is formed by drawing. The seat member 1 has a convex cross-sectional shape, and is fitted thereon with the annular reinforcing member 2. Such a cartridge type valve seat is fitted in a valve housing 3 while pipe lines are connected to the valve housing 3 so that a tongue part 5 of the resilient seat member and the convex part 6 of the reinforcing member 6 are firmly fixed together by the clamping between flanges. Meanwhile, they may be relatively moved at the boundary 8, and accordingly, there is no risk of cracking due to a difference in resilient strain between the resilient seat member and the annular reinforcing member 2. The resilient seat member 1 may be removed and replaced with new one. Further it is possible to mount a heat insulator 4 around the annular reinforcing member.
