Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent speed change shock and blowup of the number of engine revolutions by using a hydraulic control means in accordance with the number of turbine revolutions of a torque converter, and by adjusting the changeover period from No.1 friction engagement element to No.2 friction engagement element. CONSTITUTION:In a hydraulic control device for an automatic transmission, a changeover timing adjusting means adjusts the period from the changeover timing of engagement condition in No.1 friction engagement element till the changeover timing of engagement condition in No.2 friction engagement element in accordance with information about the number of turbine revolutions of a torque converter sensed by an information sensing means by the use of a hydraulic control means. This provides a proper changeover period according to the number of turbine revolutions, to prevent generation of large speed change shocks or undesirable blowing-up of the number of engine revolutions.
