Abstract

PURPOSE:To decrease frequency for replacing parts, to reduce maintenance cost of machine and to reduce loss due to stop of machine by mounting a heat pipe having high heat transmission efficiency in a roll body and heating/cooling the roll body. CONSTITUTION:Supporting shafts 5 are provided at the right and left ends of a roll body 1 having a hollow section 4. A holed portion 6 communicated with the hollow section 4 is provided in the supporting shaft 5. A heat pipe 2 is mounted from the holed portion 6 at open side. A rubber layer 7 is mounted on the inner circumference of one holed portion 6 in order to secure the heat pipe 2 to the roll body 1. One end portion 3 of the heat pipe 2 is exposed to the outside of the roll body 1. Cooling or heating water is fed naturally to the exposed side end portion 3 so as to cool or heat the heat pipe 2 thus cooling or heating the roll body 1.
