Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent bad germination caused by oxygen deficiency, to improve germination and establishment and prevent lodging, by coating rice seed with a coagulant containing specific components, sowing the coated rice seed in a sowing furrow, not covering with soil but covering with soil by gradual collapse of soil of furrow with elongation after germination. CONSTITUTION:When floating soil is settled 2-3 days after tilling of a paddy rice field and the paddy field has hardness to form a seed furrow, the seed furrow 5 is made by furrow making plows 1 and 1' and rice seed 4 is seeded in the seed furrow without covering with soil. In the case of the sowing, the rice seed is coated with a coagulant comprising soil as a main material and calcium peroxide and iron powder as subsidiary materials. Consequently, soil in a sowing furrow wall is gradually collapsed with germination and elongation of the rice seed, bad germination resulting from oxygen deficiency is prevented to give strong paddy rice plants not lodging.
