Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide an optical recording card which is not degraded in recording sensitivity using a recording principle except the evaporation and deformation of a recording film by laminating a light transparent sheet, ferroelectric layer which is changed in optical characteristics in the oriented and non-oriented states of molecules and the electrode in contact therewith. CONSTITUTION:A thin metallic film 2 is formed by vapor deposition of an underlying metal for the electrode or coating of an org. metal on a supporting substrate 1 in order to attain the oriented initial state. A film 3 of the ferroelectric layer is then formed by sputtering on the thin metallic film 2 and an electrode plate 4 having the surface polished to a specular surface is brought into contact as the electrode facing the underlying electrode with the surface of such laminated body and is initially oriented to form a transparent film. After the transparent sheet 5 is adhered onto the initialized ferroelectric layer 3, the substrate is cut to the size of a card and the optical recording is thus obtd. Laser light is projected to this optical recording card to disturb the orientation by a local heating and to convert the disturbed part to a non- transparent part, by which information is written and recording is executed.
