Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve C/N at short wavelength and durability by forming a thin ferromagnetic metallic film on a fine particle coated layer of laminated columnar fine particles and reducing the respective grain size in order of lamination. CONSTITUTION:The fine particle coated layer 2 is formed on the high-polymer film 1. The coated layer 2 consists of the fine particles 3 and the resin 4. The thin ferromagnetic metallic film as a recording layer is formed thereon by lamination of magnetic layers 5, 6, 7. These magnetic layers 5-7 consist of the columnar fine particles and are so constituted that the particle sizes of the respective layers are successively smaller. As a result, the ruggedness generated by the coated layer 2 is microscopically uniformized, by which the durability and C/N are enhanced.
