Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the length of a connecting pipe and avoid a connected state in a region below a shaft furnace and a region at a top part of a gasifier by a method wherein a discharging means for sponge iron is position set at an inlet of the gasifier toward a discharging direction behind the connecting pipe. CONSTITUTION: A connecting pipe 4 for discharging sponge iron from a direct reduction shaft furnace 1 is extended at least in a substantial vertical state at its lowermost section into a region of substantial horizontal base part. A discharge means 7 is position set at inlets 9, 10 of the melting gasifier toward the discharging direction behind the connecting pipe 4. A gasification medium inlet 3 is position set to be near the inlets 9, 10 and at the central part of a longitudinal axis of the gasifier 2. The sponge iron inlet 9 is extended perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the gasifier 2 and the gasifier media inlet 3 is extended up to the center of the longitudinal axis of the melting gasifier, i.e., into the dome 5.
